Florida Pirate Party in Exile

Yes, the Florida Pirate Party is in exile. But not for long.

We had wanted to leave the pirate-party.us domain behind because florida.pirate-party.us was too long and hard to remember. The guy who owned the server the pirate-party.us domain was hosted on decided he would rather have the server be a TOR exit node instead. We didn't find out until we tried to hit the site one day.

It's no big deal. Hopefully we'll be able to obtain the files for the site soon and pop it up on another server, but if not, it's also no big deal. There was no personally identifiable information on the site, and there was a lack of posts on the site.

Other than that, there isn't a lot of new information. We still plan on publishing the next No Safe Harbor book sometime this year, we're just a bit busy. No news on running anyone for office so far, if anyone wants to run for office as a Pirate, let us know. We will work with you as best as we can.

Oddly, my brad.hall@pirate-party.us email address still works (most likely because it's linked to Google's Gmail and no email was ever sent to the previous server).

Our Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Florida-Pirate-Party/104109076334368 and our Twitter is https://twitter.com/flpirateparty. Our website is now http://www.floridapirates.org, though it has next to no information on it... except for this post you are currently reading.

We also hold meetings every other Monday, mostly informal, on IRC every other Monday (next meeting is Monday, May 20, 2013 at 8PM EST).

If you have never used IRC before, it's extremely easy to get to a meeting. Just go to www.mibbit.com. Click "Launch App" which is right under "Sign Up Free" to the right of the frog. Then click "Server" to the right of "Connect". Now, for Server type "irc.pirateirc.net" without quotations.

For nick, type in a name you want to be called. For channel, type in #FLPP just like that. Then click Connect. Easy.

In January 2012 we released the book No Safe Harbor, which can be found at www.nosafeharbor.com. The book says it's by the USPP as a whole, but it was primarily a project of the FLPP and most of the essays are by Florida Pirates.

We're nothing without support from Pirates Like You. If you want to donate to the party or purchase gear, you may:

Purchase shirts, coffee mugs, bumper stickers, and skateboards from http://www.zazzle.com/floridapirates

You may also purchase a paperback copy of No Safe Harbor at Amazon.

Or you may send money to https://secure.piryx.com/donate/ODDN9r4H/Florida-Pirate-Party/

Thank you,
